Livia Properties is committed to gender equality and is offering a $2,000.00 grant to support women entering the field of construction trades in Nova Scotia. The construction trades have traditionally been a male dominated industry and we are working hard to help increase the female presence in the industry.
We are pleased to offer a yearly grant of $2,000.00 to the successful applicant of the Livia Properties-Women In Trades initiative. The grant is awarded to one female applicant who is a high school graduate and enrolled in, or has been accepted to, any qualifying construction trade at any NSCC Campus in NS.
This grant is administered by the Rural Communities Foundation of NS https://rcfofns.com/
You must be;
Female, or identify as female.
A high school graduate.
Currently attending or accepted in a construction related trade at any NSCC Campus in NS.
Our 2024 grant has been awarded. 2025 applications will be available soon.
Vikki Freeman, a dedicated student in the Automotive Service & Repair Technician program at the Nova Scotia Community College Pictou Campus(NSCC), has been named the recipient of the Livia Properties: Women In Trades award for 2024. Vicki's passion for the trades, coupled with her commitment to breaking down gender barriers, makes her an inspiring choice for this honor.
"I am truly honored to be selected for the Livia Properties: Women In Trades award. This support will not only ease the financial burden of my education but also motivate me to excel in my chosen field,” says Freeman, sharing her excitement. “I am grateful to Livia Properties and the RCFNS for recognizing the potential of women in trades."
Hannah Wiseman, originally from Dartmouth, came to Pictou Campus to study cabinet making. Hannah’s joy of working with wood started with her father who was in the construction industry and then flourished in her woodworking class during high school. Hannah will be starting a work placement soon.
